BIO
Jen Singleton is a film industry hair stylist who is known for her friendly and down-to-earth demeanor, wide skill set range, and warm smile which makes both producers & celebrity talent alike feel comfortable and relaxed knowing that they are in the right hands. She is a highly sought after artist in the industry, and is playfully referred to as “celebrity hair ninja” by her peers because of how quickly she can execute a change or fabrication. She can do in 30 minutes what would take most stylist hours, making her an invaluable asset to any production trailer.
She is a character designer, stylist, fabricator, & wig expert with 25 years experience working with all hair textures, with 5 years spent on the salon floor doing hair replacement for clients who suffer from various forms of hair loss & alopecia. Jen has been working the full spectrum of the entertainment industry including Broadway Theater, TV shows, Commercials, and Film for over 20 years and she is both the first woman and first Black person to cross all IATSE Local 706 categories, both on and off the Industry Experience Roster in Union History.
A literal powerhouse of an artist, she’s single handedly created some of the most iconic moments in TV pop culture history, (including but not limited to) the Beyonce’ look for Channing Tatum & the wig for Tom Holland when he embodied Rihanna’s big hit, “Umbrella” on the hit show, Lip Sync Battle. It was created to fit without glue, and survive the rigorous underwater performance using her own invented method of pain free, water-resistant stunt wrap.
Jen has been behind the scenes on the shows Station 19, Grown-ish, So You Think You Can Dance, WEST WORLD, Star Trek, American Horror Story, The Last Witch Hunter and Marvel’s X-Men to name a few. She’s also been behind the curtain on Broadway productions working her magic on the shows Wicked, The Color Purple, Carmen, Porgy and Bess, The Magic Flute, Romeo & Juliette, Ray Charles Live & many more. Theater is where she learned to be a quick-change artist, wig creator, period stylist which is quickly becoming an extinct skillset in the industry.
Throughout her career, she’s also perfected the subtle art of realistic hair special FX, incorporating lace wigs, hair pieces, and fully fabricated hand made units that are indistinguishable from natural hair to both the audience, & the high powered 4K lenses of a digital camera. With her unmatched attention to detail, she has created a continuity standard which allows the work of a hair team to blend seamlessly into the storytelling, flawlessly creating the magic of television.
Jen has been honored to have been nominated for 3 Emmy awards and has proudly worked with such brilliant celebrity talent, including but not limited to Sir Anthony Hopkins, Zendaya, Damon Wayans, Lance Henriksen, Kelly Roland, David Spade, Snoop Dogg, Olivia Munn, Regina Hall, Zachary Quinto, Jason Derulo, Mila Jovovich, Channing Tatum, John Bernthal, Tom Holland, Wolfgang Puck, Leila Ali & many more. She is a teacher, mentor, friend and trusted safe space for many celebrities and crew artists alike, and she welcomes you to Celebrityhairninja.com!
